Sadly they don't celebrate Halloween here. But it's in my heart ;)

Berlin
We waited in a bloody long line to get in this building. On the top is a big glass dome that you can go into. I think that this is where they have political debates. It's free and open to the public. The original dome was destroyed so they built this glass one to reprisent political transparency. The bigg mirrored thing in the middle collects rain water and the whole thing acts as a heater/cooler/ventalation. It's "green".

Berlin
The place where the wall was has been marked in different colored stone. In some places it's now a bike path :)
And the sign at Checkpoint Charley. We went through a museum about it. Very interesting. All the stuff that happend, what people did to cross, amazing stories.
Ok. Not about Berlin.
You know people really wear wooden shoes here? I didn't think they would. It's not like kids wear them to school, but I do see people around town in them. It's probably because I'm in a rural area.
And something else that's true; The basic meal is: Potatoes (boiled), meat, vegitables (not normal fresh veggies, it's stuff like green beens, brussel sprouts, red cabbage, coliflower, etc) . That is what you eat probably around 85% of the time.
The foods not bad, just different.
Berlin, The Wall
The Wall. To me the most impressive thing in Berlin. Really amazing. Amazing in a tragic but fasinating way. Well, these are pictures of the intact bit. There are murals all over it. My favorite was this last. Many small people who in many small places do many small things that can alter the face of the world.
And in every suvineir shop you can buy chunks of the rubbel. I didn't. It felt kinda weird.
I don't know. The whole thing really made an impression.

Today is my friends bithday so I bought her Drop. Drop is black licorice. They love it here and have a ton of different kinds. Some (most) are gross, but some aren't to to bad.
And in this lovely picture of me you can see part of my Berrlin suviner T-shirt! It has the TV tower on it which is the taalest structure in Berlin and I have a picture of it in my first Berlin post, it's by an old church. Under that (on the shirt) it says "BERLIN" in black on orange.
Berlin
Crystal (US)
Marliegh (US)
Oh man, so good. We went to a Haagen Daz ice cream parlor. It was a sit down place where they brought menus to you and every thing. I had lemon and rasberry sorbet topped with fresh fruit. Marliegh had rassberry layerd with marange, whipped cream, etc. And Crystal had a waffel coverd in cherries with ice cream on the side.
And this is why I'm gaining wieght.

Masscara is ridiculously expencive here. But I needed some that was water proof. Can't walk around with racoon eyes! Riding your bike through the rain can do that to you. But when I checked out the casher gave me a Venus shaver with suction-cuppy wall holder for free :) which lessend the sting. So I just tested them out, My armpits are baby-bottom smooth and my masscara didn't run even though I took a shower with it on.
Things here just cost more. It's really irksome because I want to shop so much, buy all kinds of things, it's so new and tempting.
That's something I miss. Shopping with Mom and Katrina.
Ploy lives in the same region as me and a lot of fun.
I spent a coupel hours walking around the city with Sarah. It was great.
After doing our own thing for awhile we ended up at a Starbucks with a big group of other students just siting and talking and enjoying the warmth.
As I said, Berlin is a beatiful city and I would really like to go back with a smaller group of family or freinds to visit the museums and everything that we missed on the tour.

Berlin
Spent the weekend in Belin with AFS. There were 71 kids and I forget how many adults. We took a bus there Thursday night so that we could start early Friday morning. The first day was brutal, freezing cold and the whole day was walking. My legs ache. But it is really a beautiful city with so much to see. We stayed in a hostel that was suprisingly nice and comfortable. I'm not going to post all of the pictures at once, that would be overwelming I think. Insted I'll do lots of a little posts.
