Sorry, my memories going. A nice looking church though.

Today was nice and warm. Lots of sunshine. I had to pick up a few things at the store and ended up with these macaroons as well. Treated myself to my own little picnic in the park.
Lets hope the weather holds, I may even buy sun-screen.

About two weeks ago we went to Schoorl to celebrate Albert and his sisters birthday with his family. There was deliciouse apple pie and chocolate cake as well as an exillerating climb up one of the highest dunes in Holland.

Klompen

My new wonderful clogs (aka klompen) slippers. So heavenly I wish I never had to take them off.

A Church

Yes, obviousley a church, but I cant remember which one specificly.
And since I felt a little too touristy letting my camera flash in a church the pictures are nice and blurry.

Sarah and Julia gave me the best clog-slippers a girl could wish for, and I´m wearing my pretty new blouse from Caroline.

We played Halli Galli (of course!)

Hair Cut

Tuesday I had my hair cut and colored, it still feels a little strange when I look in the mirror.

Ieper

Ieper was a city offten fought around in World War I. They have the Menin Gate, a memorial with the names of all British Commonwealth soldiers (except Newfoundland) who died in the Iepers Salient before August 16 1917 and who have no known grave. As graves are found the names are removed.
Every night at 8pm a ceromony, the Last Post, is sounded. During WWII it was stopped by occupying Germans but was promptly resumed on the evening of thier liberation.

"Who will remember, passing through this Gate,
The unheroic Dead who fed the guns?"
-- Siegfried Sassoon, On Passing the Menin Gate

Tulip tip

What do you do when you have a nice bouquet of Tulips and you dont want them drooping after only a couple days of splendid glory?

Caroline has provided this nugget of knowledge for everyone:

  • Take a pin
  • Have your Tulips
  • And then just poke a hole (staight through!!!) each flower right at the top of the stem (near where the petals and stalk meet)

Somehow this keeps you flowers perfectly perky and fresh.
